Beschreibung
Can one learn from Riedberg? The new Frankfurt district Riedberg was long considered one of the largest urban extension projects of the Federal Republic after German reunification. Started in 1997, the newly built district in the north of Frankfurt is intended to house around 16,000 inhabitants in future, as well as the natural science institutes and research facilities of the Frankfurt Goethe University. In scientific and interdisciplinary contributions, renowned authors address the question of whether Riedberg with its structures and urban development measures, can have an exemplary function for future urban extension projects. It considers architectures, public buildings and facilities, the development history, and the urban development concept, as well as the outdoor spaces created. The artistic contribution by the renowned photographer Gerd Kittel, who focuses on the development of the district and the everyday architectures as part of a long-term project, sets a special accent.
