The essence of library classification is to ensure that users have access to library materials. Classification plays a major role in achieving this objective by sorting and arranging library materials especially by subject to enable users retrieve information resources in the library. The various classification scheme's like Dewey Decimal classification scheme's, library of Congress classification scheme's, Universal Decimal Classification, and Colon Classification Scheme are used to arrange materials on the shelf for easy retrieval.
