The wildlife of Brazil is home to 60% of the Amazon rainforest, which accounts for approximately one-tenth of all species in the world. The South American country is considered to have the greatest biodiversity of any country on the planet. It has 55,000 species of plants, 3000 species of freshwater fish and over 520 species of mammals. Brazil is also the third country with the most number of bird species and fifth with the most reptile species - 1622 and 468 respectively. The country is second only to Indonesia as the country with the most endemic species.
