Beschreibung
This is an exposed fact that our teacher education institutions are not catering to the market demand due to mismatch in our teacher education programme and the requirements of the school to reduce the gap between the training imparted and actual job done by secondary school teachers. For example, the pupil-teachers seldom get a chance to know how to plan remedial teaching, taking children on excursions, checking students assignments, setting of question papers, conducting admissions and examinations, preparing school time-table and schemes for monthly tests and examinations, etc. Thus, it is necessary to emphasize upon a student-teacher the need for executing his job with the absolute devotion, conscientiousness, honesty and professional integrity; but this is seldom taught during the course of training period. Qualified teacher-educators should be recruited in teacher training institutions and interest in teaching, learning, research and maintenance of professional standard should be created in them for the betterment of prospective teachers and nation building.
