Hopkins shares interviews of average people in the black community to reveal how they felt about the election of a black president and his inauguration and what their expectations of the new president-elect were at the time.Ms. Hopkins interviewed ordinary black people ages sixteen to ninety-three of both sexes and from a broad occupational spectrum to capture their feelings and thoughts about the election of the first black president.
