Disney's "The BFG - Big Friendly Giant" startet ab 21.7.2016 in den deutschen Kinos. Der Film vereint die Talente von drei großen Geschichtenerzählern: Roald Dahl, Walt Disney und Steven Spielberg. Im September diesen Jahres wäre der britische Schriftsteller Roald Dahl 100 Jahre alt geworden. Disneys The BFG erzählt unter Spielbergs Regie die fantasievolle Geschichte eines jungen Mädchens und eines Riesens, der sie in die Welt der Wunder und Gefahren von Giant Country mitnimmt. Der dreifache Tony Award Gewinner, zweifache Olivier Award Preisträger und Oscar-Gewinner Mark Rylance, sowie Newcomer Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall und Bill Hader übernahmen Rollen in The BFG. Produziert wurde der Film von Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Sam Mercer, sowie Kathleen Kennedy als Produktionsleiterin. Der Soundtrack wurde von Oscar-Gewinner John Williams komponiert und beinhaltet 19 Songs.
